Recent game day

So we got our two games in this past Saturday. There were three players for Devilry and four for What a Cowboy! (not including me as GM) A good time had by most, if not all even though defeating the witches seem nigh impossible.

What a Cowboy was fun and moved along quite well despite a gaff in rules understanding.

Up next will be a game  of Midgard Heroic Battles at the Sgts Mess this Saturday!

April 11th proposed game day

One of the proposed games

So, I have two games set up for Saturday, What a Cowboy! and Devilry Afoot and I will set up a Pulp Alley game too.

Other possible games

Maybe Adeptus Titanicus giant robot gladiatorial matches as well or instead of Midgard. I just painted up 4 traitor titans, it might be nice to get them on the table.

Naturally, Pulp Alley is also high up on the list.

I have some witches and some Puritans, oh and a witch hunter general!

HERE is a link to a Youtube intro Devilry Afoot game. Note, not a video by me but an excellent video by Skirmish Wargames.

This is already set up and ready to go.

Midgard Heroic Battles game

I have watched a few videos of this game in action, I think it is time to give it a try.

Here is a LINK to an introductory video by Two Fat Lardies. They have more posted on Youtube.

It does do a lot of what Fantastic Battles does not. Some of my more important (to me) homegrown rules amendments for Fantastic Battles are apparently standard rules in Midgard. The good news is that there are no issues with basing! There are similarities, but also differences.

  • Units can be forced back/retreat
  • Units that are reduced to 1/2 strength have reduced combat
  • Leaders are important but do not dominate just like FB
  • Leaders can still issue challenges
  • Incorporates a command roll of 3+ but leaders can help out should you fail
  • Every unit can move independent of the command roll, command roll allows second move
  • Similar trait system for creating units
  • Looks easy to use, rules light
Overall it looks like a fun game! There is a new supplement being released now with campaign rules and 15 new scenarios.
